Simpsons Hamlet Parody
Mad props, Bonita...I couldn't find it.
Oh, youtube.
hmm..I actually came on the site to see if the blog was up but I found this blog instead! I am surprised that nobody has commented yet. I'm not really sure how to write a review but I'll try my best!
I watched Simpsons Hamlet Parody! It was actually really entertaining and revealed the important parts of the play while providing a little humor. Many of the scenes that appear in the book also appear in this video. For example Hamlet the Ghost sets up the beginning of the play and also appears in the video to tell Hamlet to avenge his death. I think the video portrayed the ghost scene well but not convincing of Hamlet's "madness." Since we still have not finished the play, I am not sure if Gertrude had a part in the murder or not, but in this video, it portrays her as unknowledgable about the murder and innocent. I do not think that the video showed a deep understanding of Ophelia and Hamlet's "relationship" and how he used her to convince people of his madness. Also, I thought Laertes was older than the Laertes shown in the video. The ending also seemed a bit rushed but overall it was entertaining to watch and showed the gist of the play.
SIMPSONS HAMLET PARODY!!!
That was pretty hilarious. It highlighted the major points in the play and introduced almost every character. I wasn't expecting a scene-by-scene parody, though. It's a half hour show... that's just impossible. And most people don't have that much of an attention span; I know I don't :-) I actually had no idea how the play ended, but now I have a pretty clear picture. The Simpsons parody of Hamlet, overall, did a SWELL (I love that word..) job at quickly telling us what the play is basically about and throwing A LOT of humor in it. Ahh, I loved it.
Remember: Danes do it melancholy. Har har har.. I notice weird things.
kbye..
STARWARS EPISODE V: Laertes Strikes Back
Yes! It's Hamlet and StarWars all in one video. The best part is probably Ophelia's magical disappearing cowboy hat.
I had to share. And also, if your heart doesn't stop a little over the special effects, you are not human. =(
Oh, and **SPOILERSS!** are in that video.
I also did The Three Minute Hamlet" aka "Oer Hamlet." I loved the last lines "And if you think that was confusing, You should read the bloody play." I thought it was hilarious because whenever I read Hamlet I do not understand a single thing. I liked how it was really straightforward in explaining the essential parts of the play. It incorporated scenes like the ghost, Ophelia committing "hari kari," Hamlet's plan on making Claudius confess, and the ending of the play. It was a little different from the Simpson's version that i saw where Gertrude smacked herself in the head with this spiked weapon. In this version, Gertrude drinks the poison wine to kill herself. I do not know which one is right because we haven't finished the play yet.

I FOUND SOMETHING, I FOUUUUND SOMETHIIIING! Sorry, I'm all hopped up on Halloween candy, but getting to the point: I found something.
Here's a site containing Hamlet parodies and educational information on Shakepeare and the play. There are many takes on Hamlet's famous "To be or not to be" solioquy and a cartoon summary of the play made up of 48 drawings. I find these to be really, really funny, but then again, I'm quite easily amused.
See for yourself:
Ok, for some reason my link isn't coming out the way I want it to. It's somehow embedded itself into the timestamp, so if you're interested in the site, click the timestamp at the end of my comment.
I listened to the three-minute Hamlet song, and I was quite startled when the man used the F-word twice at the end of the song; it caught me much off guard. Other than the shock at the end, the entire song is HILARIOUS!!! I was a bit confused with Claudius' plan to execute Hamlet during the actual play (I must have been distracted) but the song cleared up my misapprehension, stating Hamlet was being sent for an "English hempen necktie". I literally chuckled when I heard that Fortinbras was "knee deep in Danes". The song neatly summarizes the play and adds a comic spin to the tragedy.
For those who are bored or want to see how well you REALLY know the Hamlet play, take some fun trivia questions about the play.
Have fun! because some are actually fun.
Hamlet Trivia!
okay . . absolutely loved the song it was hilarious. I did not really help me learn much more about the play because I have had all the basic ideas that are going on in the play since I read it because I love Shakespeare. One thing I must say is that it is funny and the tune it is sung to makes it that much more hysterical. I really enjoyed listening to it and I think I am going to look at one of the other interesting things that Mrs. Clapp has put on here for us to look at then maybe ill go and finish R&G are dead.

The song was my absolute favorite, it helped me understand the stiry more because there was some parts that I missed but that song really did a good job im summing up everything that happened. I also loved the Gilligans Island version, the To be or not to be song was histerical and it brought me back to the good ol' days of watching that show. I think I'm going to hold off until we're further in the play to take a look at the final duel. I had a great time looking at all of these!

I also found this one which I thought was pretty hillarious, especially because there is some commentary by our own George W. Bush...
